추석은 영어로 뭐라고 할까요?

추석은 한국 명절이니 별도의 영어가 없어서

추수감사절로 표현했지요.

Korean Thanksgiving Day

하지만 요즘에는 외국인들도 한국 문화에 대해 많이 알게 되면서 

Chuseok 이라고 그대로 말합니다.

Chuseok is the Korean Thanksgiving day.

추석은 한국의 추수감사절입니다.

Chuseok, also known as Hangawi, is a Korean traditional harvest festival.

추석은 한가위라고도 부르는데 한국의 전통적인 추수 명절입니다.

It is one of the biggest holidays in Korea.

한국의 최대명절 중의 하나지요

추석에는 고향을 방문하고, 가족들과 친척들이 함께 모입니다

We visit our hometown and get together with family members and relatives.

방문하는 것은 visit, 모이는 것은 get together with로 표현합니다

3일 동안 쉬기 때문에  

A three-day holiday in Korea

라고 말할 수 있습니다.

그리고 추석은 음력 8월 15일입니다..

It celebrates on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar.

음력은 달을 기준으로 한 달력 날짜이기 때문에

lunar calendar 라고 합니다.

반대로 양력은 태양을 뜻하는 단어를 넣어 solar calendar 라고 합니다.

 This means the date of Chuseok changes every year.

즉 해마다 추석의 날짜가 바뀌는 거지요.

Chuseok is also a time to give thanks to ancestors for the good harvest.

추석은 또한 조상님께 풍년을 감사하는 때 입니다

Many people visit their ancestors´ graves before Chuseok and clean up the graves.

많은 사람들이 추석 전에 조상의 묘를 방문해서 묘소를 깨끗이 합니다

Early in the morning on Chuseok, family members perform an ancestor memorial service.

추석 날 이른 아침에는 가족들이 모여서 조상을 기리는 특별한 의식을 합니다

This ritual is called Charye.

이 의식을 차례라고 불러요.

그리고 차례를 지내다는 영어로 어떻게 말할까요?

Koreans pay respect to the sprits of their ancestors.

추석 음식 송편~~

송편은 한국 전통 떡으로 참깨, 검은콩, 밤, 대추, 꿀을 채워 만듭니다.
