Qatar National Profile

 

The State of Qatar is a sovereign and independent state in the Middle East, occupying a peninsula that juts into the Arabian Gulf. Since its complete independence from Britain in 1971, Qatar has emerged as one of the world's most important producers of oil and gas. It is an Islamic State whose laws and customs follow the Islamic tradition. 

카타르는 아라비아 만으로 튀어나온 반도를 차지하고 있는 중동의 주권 독립 국가입니다. 1971년 영국으로부터 완전히 독립한 이후 카타르는 세계에서 가장 중요한 석유 및 가스 생산국 중 하나로 부상했습니다. 법과 관습이 이슬람 전통을 따르는 이슬람 국가입니다. 

 

The State of Qatar is a peninsula located amid the western coast of the Arabian Gulf. The peninsular is approximately 100km across and extends 200km into the Gulf. Qatar includes several islands the largest of which are, Halul, Shraouh and Al-Asshat.. shares its southern border with Saudi Arabia and a maritime border Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Iran.

카타르는 아라비아 만의 서쪽 해안 중앙에 위치한 반도입니다. 반도는 약 100km에 걸쳐 걸프만까지 200km 뻗어 있습니다. 카타르에는 할룰, 쉬라우, 알 아샤트 등 가장 큰 여러 섬이 포함되어 있습니다. 남부 국경은 사우디아라비아, 바레인, 아랍에미리트, 이란과 해상 국경을 맞대고 있습니다.

 



 

 

Qatar has a desert climate with hot summers, warm winters and scarce rainfall.

카타르는 사막 기후로 여름은 덥고 겨울은 따뜻하며 강우량이 적습니다.

Arabic is the official language of the country, though English is widely spoken.

아랍어가 국가의 공식 언어이지만 영어가 널리 사용됩니다.

The capital and largest city is Doha (Ad Dawhah, est. population 800,000).

The 22nd FIFA World Cup, it is taking place in Qatar from 20 November to 18 December 2022. 

제22회 FIFA 월드컵은 2022년 11월 20일부터 12월 18일까지 카타르에서 열립니다

 

Due to Qatar's intense summer heat and often fairly high humidity, this World Cup is being held during November and December. It is being played in a reduced timeframe of 29 days. 64 matches are being played in eight venues across five cities. The opening match was between Qatar and Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor. In their first-ever World Cup appearance, Qatar lost their opening game – the first host nation to do so.

The choice to host the World Cup in Qatar has been the source of controversy, particularly in the Western World. Criticism focused on Qatar's human-rights record, particularly their treatment of migrant workers, women leading to allegations of sportswashing.
