Amazon to expand drone delivery into Britain and Italy

 

 

Amazon’s drone delivery service, Prime Air, is set to extend its reach to the UK and Italy by the end of 2024. 

Amazon의 드론 배송 서비스인 Prime Air는 2024년 말까지 영국과 이탈리아로 서비스 범위를 확장할 예정입니다.

 

 

 

Amazon on Wednesday said it hopes to expand drone delivery into Britain and Italy by late next year, as it unveiled new warehouse robots and tech in its race to get shoppers what they want quickly.

The Seattle-based e-commerce colossus said it will expand drone delivery of certain purchases to a third US state as well as to the two European countries by the end of 2024.

아마존은 쇼핑객이 원하는 것을 신속하게 제공할수 있도록 새로운 창고로봇과 기술을 공개하면서 내년 말까지 영국과 이탈리아로 드론 배송을 확대할 수 있기를 희망한다고 수요일 밝혔습니다.

Amazon delivery drones are already at work in California and Texas, and a new MK30 model will be able to operate in more extreme weather conditions than those currently in use, Amazon Prime Air vice president David Carbon said during a marketing event.

Amazon has also installed a new robotics system called Sequoia in one of its Texas logistics centers, the company said.

Prime Air’s new MK30 drone is designed to withstand diverse weather conditions, including light rain, and can deliver packages weighing up to 5 pounds (2.27 kilograms). This opens the door for quick and convenient deliveries, with customers expected to receive their orders within an hour. The drone uses advanced “sense and avoid” technology to detect and steer clear of obstacles, enhancing flight safety. It also boasts a quieter flight, with custom-designed propellers reducing perceived noise by almost half.

Amazon is not alone in this venture. Other companies are also making strides in the drone delivery industry. Walmart, for example, claims to have completed over 10,000 drone-based deliveries since starting its program two years ago. Alphabet’s Wing and Zipline are also vying for a piece of the drone delivery pie, claiming to have completed hundreds of thousands of commercial drone deliveries.

Customers who want the option of a drone delivery need to be approved. The drone requires plenty of clear space to drop a parcel 12 feet to the ground.

Amazon’s drones are unable to deliver during rainstorms, strong winds, extreme heat, or any unfavorable weather — and only operate from 8AM to 3:30PM every day.

Grilled pork belly (samgyeopsal) (삼겹살)  Pork belly, which is beneath the sirloin, is fatty and tender and is one of the favorite pork cuts among Koreans. Grill pork belly on a hot grill plate and eat the meat with red chili and soybean paste or sesame oil with salt.
