Firefighters battle 'severe' South Korean wildfire

 

South Korea deployed thousands of firefighters and issued its highest fire hazard warning on Saturday (Mar 5) as a large wildfire torn through the country's eastern coastal region.

한국은 토요일(3월 5일) 전국 동부 해안 지역을 휩쓴 대규모 산불로 수천 명의 소방관을 배치하고 최고 수준의 화재 위험 경보를 발령했습니다.

 

 



 

 

About 6,000 people were forced to flee their homes as the fire, which started on early Friday on a mountain in the seaside town of Uljin, spread to the nearby city of Samcheok and beyond.

지난 금요일 새벽 울진의 바닷가 마을 산에서 시작된 화재가 인근 삼척을 비롯한 인근 도시로 번지면서 약 6000여명이 집에서 대피해야 했습니다.

 

As of Saturday afternoon, authorities had deployed more than 3,000 firefighters, as well as 57 helicopters and 273 vehicles, according to the Korea Forest Service

산림청에 따르면 토요일 오후 당국은 소방관 3000여명과 헬리콥터 57대, 차량 273대를 배치했습니다.

 

The blaze had briefly threatened a nuclear power station and a liquified natural gas plant on Friday, but the facilities were now safe with emergency services deployed on site to keep them protected, officials said.

New age system explained  South Koreans woke up a year or two younger after the government changed the East Asian nation’s traditional age-counting system.정부가 전통적인 연령 계산 시스템을 바꾼 후 한국인들은 한두 살 더 젊어 졌습니다 .   Under the “Korean age” system, babies are considered to be one year old on the day they are born, and every January 1, a year is added to people’s ages – regardless of their actual birthdate. Zero-calorie drinks, also known as “diet sodas,” are drinks that contain almost no calories. They are an ancient fossil group that first appeared in the seas of the mid Cambrian, about 300 million years before dinosaurs. The stem of a crinoid extends down from what would be the top of a starfish, leaving the mouth of the organism opening skyward, with the arms splayed out. Some species of comatulids (i.e., feather stars) are even capable of swimming for short periods.
