터키 리라화 가치 폭락에도‥"금리 인하 지속"

에르도안 대통령의 지속적인 요구에 

중앙은행은 지난 9월 기준금리를 19%에서 18%로 낮췄고 

지난달에도 18%에서 16%로, 

또다시 기준금리를 15%로 인하했습니다.

10월 터키의 소비자물가 상승률은 19.9%에 달하는 수치를 기록해 

금리 인상을 통해 진화가 필요함에도 중앙은행은 기준금리를 인하하고 있습니다.

터키 리라화의 가치는 11월에만 -33.8% 하락했고, 

달러 대비 역사상 최저치를 기록하고 있습니다

The lira’s spiral has been staggering — it plummeted from roughly 8.5 to the dollar in late August to more than 13 to the dollar within a mere three months.

리라화 가치는 8월 말 달러당 약 8.5달러에서 불과 3개월 만에 13달러 이상으로 급락했습니다.

“I have never advocated and won’t be advocating for interest rate increases,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said over the weekend.

레제프 타이이프 에르도안 터키 대통령은 주말에 

”금리 인상을 지지한 적도 없고 옹호하지도 않을 것”이라고 말했습니다.

Erdogan has consistently refused to raise interest rates to reign in rising double-digit inflation, and the lira has plummeted in value in recent years largely as a result of that. 

Inflation in Turkey is now near 20%.

에르도안은 두 자릿수 인플레이션 상승을 통제하기 위해 금리 인상을 일관되게 거부했으며, 그 결과 최근 몇 년 동안 리라 가치가 급락했습니다. 

터키의 인플레이션은 현재 20%에 가깝습니다.
