Deflation: Why Falling Prices Aren't Always Good News

µðÇ÷¹À̼Ç: ¹°°¡ Ç϶ôÀÌ Ç×»ó ÁÁÀº ¼Ò½ÄÀº ¾Æ´Ñ ÀÌÀ¯
Most people are familiar with inflation, but "deflation" is its opposite—a general decrease in the prices of goods and services. While lower prices might seem like a good thing for consumers, persistent deflation can be dangerous for the economy. When prices keep falling, people tend to delay their purchases, expecting even lower prices in the future. This leads to lower demand, causing companies to reduce production and cut jobs. This cycle, known as a "deflationary spiral," can lead to long-term economic stagnation. Managing a stable price level is a key challenge for central banks around the world.
